You know what the absolute craziest thing to come out of 2020 is?
It’s not the murder hornets, or the virus, or even floating people in jetpacks scaring airline pilots. It’s not any of the crazy things that none of us had on our 2020 Bingo cards when the year started.
The craziest thing to come out of 2020 is this: There are no more rules.
Think about it this way: If I’d told you in June of 2019 that within one year, 70% of office-based businesses would have more employees working from home than in the office, you would have thought I was crazy, right? But it happened. What about if I’d told you that we’d all be wearing masks, or that the travel industry would shrink to 9% of what it was a year ago? But it happened.
The “unthinkable” has arrived, and it’s not leaving anytime soon. So what does that mean? Well, when up is down, left is right, and normal is history, it means only one thing: There are no more rules.
The rules which, just seven short months ago, used to be gospel. Go to an office. Have a boss. Don’t rock the boat. The rules that, for lack of a better word, kept us docile, obedient, and contained.
Now don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying everyone should pack up and move to Fiji to fish and make grass skirts for tourists. We all have responsibilities.
But… If there are no more rules, has there ever been a better time to go and do that thing you’ve been putting off? That thing you’ve been afraid to do? That new business? That move? That idea simmering in the back of your brain that you’ve been afraid to touch?
Now. Is. Your. Time. When there are no rules, you can truly do whatever you want. No rules means that even if you fail, it’s cool. You can just start over with something else.
It’s a new day, my friends. This is your moment. Now. Right here. There will never be a better time to reinvent yourself. Don’t throw away your shot.
Enjoy the weekend,
-Peter
PS: Want to brainstorm exactly how to do that? I’ve still got spots open for next week’s 90 minute brainstorm with me! Head over and sign up now before we sell out completely.
