So as I was TiVo’ing through the commercials in an episode of The Simpsons, all of a sudden something stuck me – It wasn’t moving.
Sure enough, predictions are true – Now, when you TiVo through a commercial, you’re shown a block-ad for the commercial – sort of like a “hey, you can’t totally pass us by” ad.
Very, very slick. Doesn’t hurt us, because we still blow through commercials just as fast. Helps advertisers, who don’t “lose” us, per se.
Will it change advertising? Perhaps slightly. Perhaps advertisers will realize that 30 second spots are so “last decade.”
