Have you joined my incredibly non-annoying, once-in-a-while email newsletter?
One week ago today, I mailed my U.S. Passport off for renewal. I’m expecting three months, minimum, only because I put “expedited service” all over it and paid extra.
Yesterday, I ran my first 5k since injury one and injury two.
And I was quite happy with my results, considering!
Going with that “it’s a gorgeous day out finally, and it’s time to get back in shape and start training for all the things I’m doing this season,” feeling, I got on my bike for the first time today in… I think in forever. The goal was a baseline lap around Central Park.
As I’m walking my bike out to get a quick ride in during lunch, my doorman tells me a FedEx has arrived. Shock of beyond shocks, it’s my Passport.
It took one week.
My ride around the 6.2 mile Central Park loop as a baseline ride, took 20 minutes, 12 seconds.
If you average it out, the Government works faster than I currently ride.
That scares the crap out of me.
So, I’ve got my work cut out for me. I’d like to get from an 8:30 running mile to a 7:20 running mile, and a 20:12 10k bike to a 15:00 10k bike.
Fortunately, I’ve got a bunch of months to do it.
5% pleasure, 50% pain…
