Have you joined my incredibly non-annoying, once-in-a-while email newsletter?
The problem with the arts nowadays, is that for most events, you need a sizable budget to enjoy them. As a product of NYC, I was privy to many, many free and low-cost events – concerts in the park, random performances at some even more random Church in Harlem… Wonderful things for a young boy to be exposed.
Too many people know NY arts as The Met, Lincoln Center, The Symphony, and (shudder) Radio City Music Hall.
C. Nana-Oye Addo-Yobo, former events director for the Apollo Theater, has created a blog featuring all the cool/low-cost arts events in the city. Located at http://freedomlovefest.typepad.com, it’s quickly become one of my must visits.
Spread the message far and wide, children. The arts don’t have to be expensive.
Happy Monday!
